Does Glassline plan mule deer hunts?
Yes. Glassline plans elk hunts, mule deer hunts, and both tags on one hunt. Deer hunts get their own habitat score, deer marks like bedding cover under rims and feeding areas on shrub browse, plays built for deer, CPW's mule deer range layers and packout math for your animal. Colorado mule deer tags are draw only, so a deer hunt starts from your hunt code, or from the tag you're applying for. Mule deer and combo hunts are part of membership.
Does Glassline compromise fair chase?
No. Glassline encodes elk and mule deer know-how — terrain, seasons, tactics, logistics. It never uses real-time animal locations, collar data, or crowdsourced sightings, and it never will. We help you plan the hunt. The hunt is still yours.
Does Glassline tell you where the elk or deer are?
No. Glassline does not track, locate, or predict animals. It reads public terrain, habitat, access, and pressure data through decades of elk and mule deer know-how, and surfaces the areas a hunter with your season, weapon, and legs would want to consider — and why. Finding elk is still your job.
Will Glassline crowd my unit or burn anyone's spot?
No. There is no shared hotspot list, no crowdsourced pins, and no map of where hunters go in Glassline — and there never will be. Nobody's spot is in the system: it reads the same public data any hunter can pull. Every playbook is built for one hunter, so two members in the same unit get different plans. Hunting pressure is a penalty in our scoring, not a target.
What does Glassline cost?
Founding Membership is $39.99 per year, locked as long as your subscription is active, for the first 500 hunters. After the founding 500, membership is $59.99 per year. Or start free with one hunt.
Is there a free version?
Yes. One elk hunt, full generation, with two hunt areas and four plays unlocked, hunt mode, the field log, alerts, the LiDAR basemap and terrain layers, and five Ask Glassline turns a week. Founding membership unlocks mule deer hunts and elk + mule deer on one hunt, every area and play, offline maps, editing and building your own plays, the Terrain filter and Sun and shade, export, and unlimited Ask.
How is Glassline different from onX or goHUNT?
Those are mapping and research tools: they hand you layers, boundaries, and draw odds, and leave the synthesis to you. Glassline does the synthesis — ranked hunt areas, camp options with real drive and hike times, and a playbook built around your season, weapon, party, and fitness. Most hunters use both.
Does Glassline have lidar, slope and sun layers?
Yes. The LiDAR basemap is bare-earth relief from USGS lidar at 5 m, free on every account; where no lidar has been flown, about 13% of unit area, it shows 10 m relief under a hatch. Slope angle, Aspect and Landform are free too, and all four download with offline maps. Members add the Terrain filter, which dims everything except ground matching the slope, aspect, landform, cover, public access and distance from a road your vehicle can drive, and Sun and shade, terrain shadow at any half hour of the day on the web app. They read the ground, not where animals are.
Where does Glassline run?
On the web and on Android. Plan at your desk on the web, where e-scouting actually happens, then run the hunt from your phone: hunt mode, offline maps, and the field log.
Does it work without cell service?
On the phone, yes, for members. Download the hunt's offline maps and logistics kit, then build plays, run them, move camp and log what you see with no signal. Drive and hike times are estimates while offline and are rechecked when you reconnect.
What happens to my changes if I rebuild the plan?
They stay. Rebuilding replaces what Glassline generated and keeps what you drew, edited, placed, built or wrote.
Does Glassline work outside Colorado?
Not yet, and that's deliberate. Glassline is built Colorado-first: the largest elk herd in the country, one of the West's biggest mule deer herds, and the most complex tag system in the West, with every dataset and every play tuned for it. More states are on the roadmap, and founding members get them first.
